About the project
Implemented since 2009, the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture and the Museum Association of Thüringen eV, the project "Digitalization of museum material witnesses Thuringia" and thus support the initiative of the European Commission on the digitalization of cultural heritage in Europe.

The aim of this initiative is the establishment of a central European digital cultural data bank with the participation of museum, archives, libraries and other academic institutions. The European Digital Library ("Europeana") is structured in the form of a non-commercial portal, the cultural and scientific heritage of Europe and across divisions make it accessible over the Internet.
The project promotes the Thuringian Museum 'Association to build a digital database for the Thuringian Museum museums and assists them in the recording, indexing and publishing of their own stocks.
